It takes 110 hours to complete each course and Course Outline highlights the breakdown of each unit. It is at the students’ discretion to hand in their assignments and to take their exams, as there are no schedules or due dates to follow. Students will have up to 10 months to complete their courses and can complete courses at their own pace.

Any individual with OSSD is eligible to apply to any University or College throughout Canada. This Diploma is accepted not only in Canada, but also in Australia, Europe, UK and USA, to name a few.

Students will be assigned a certified teacher and will have the same teacher throughout the entire course. Teachers answer questions, provide feedback and grade assessments. Students will be able to communicate with their teacher at any point of time via the online Moodle system.

Courses begin at your convenience- round the year. Once you register, it will take 24 hours for you to receive your login information. After this we will coordinate a ‘Getting Started’ call with you to help you begin.

We teach through Moodle, a Learning Management System. Through this Virtual Learning Environment, lessons are delivered in a wide variety of formats to cater to different learning styles.

The final exam can either be written at our office in Mississauga (we will schedule with you) or you can write it from the place you live in, via the proctoring method.

Yes, your home school must accept the credit.

Students must write quizzes and tests alone without the assistance of friends, parents, tutors, or any other person. A student will be told if they are allowed to use a formula sheet. If a student uses any other sort of print or online material to assist them in writing a test or quiz they will receive a mark of 0.

We send an official hard copy of your report card to your home school upon the completion of your course. Subsequently, your home school would put the completed course on your transcript.

No, all credits at CHLA are earned at the same value, as any other regular school in Ontario.

Once you complete your course successfully, we send it to OUAC/OCAS on your behalf.

Each student’s situation is different; it is because of this we accept our students on a case by case basis.

Each student who submits an application must go through the following procedure:
1) Students need to send all recent report cards/ full transcripts and a photo copy of their Passport to admissions@chlacademy.ca
2) This information is reviewed by our Admissions Team.
3) The criteria required for further processing is based on the age of the applicant, the amount of education completed as well as their academic standing.
4) An interview is then scheduled with the Principal of CHLA
5) During this interview the Principal will conduct an oral assessment of the student’s ability to speak English.
6) The Principal/Agent will provide a written English assignment to the student to complete.
7) Upon a successful review of this assignment the Principal will conduct the equivalency process to determine how many courses a student will need to receive their diploma.
8) For successful applicants, an Offer of Acceptance will be issued. Students will be given 2.5 weeks to decide before their application becomes invalid.
9) Students who wish to re-apply will be required to begin the process from the beginning.

Students who complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma with us have the ability to apply to our affiliated universities without having to write IELTS or TOEFL (depending on the case of each student). You do not need to write the IELTS/TOEFL to be a student at CHLA. We have an ESL program for our students to improve their English skills. An ESL assessment is conducted for all international students to determine their level of English and shall be then placed accordingly.

The refund policy for international students is very straight forward. After a student has been given access to their courses, they are given 2 days to request a full refund. If a student decides to drop the course after the 2-day grace period there is no refund. Registration and assessment fees are not refundable.

Canadian Higher Learning Academy is a private school inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education (BSID 882768)

The time duration will vary depending on how fast the student can complete their courses. Some students will complete a dual diploma. this means they will complete their local high school diploma during the day and then complete credits toward the OSSD during the evening. Other students will complete just the OSSD with CHLA, therefore they will finish sooner as they are putting more focus and time towards completing that.

The OSSD is recognized across the globe and can be used to apply at many institutions. Our recommendation is to contact your local post-secondary institute and see what their policy is on this.

During the registration process we request that you send all of your transcripts to us. We will then complete PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) process and you could receive credit exemptions for the courses you have already completed.
